Start Again

It's April! One whole quarter down. How are you doing with your goals and resolutions for the year? My word of the year was commitment and I see that it is definitely an area that I can grow in. Let's be accountability partners?

This blog is for the ones that planned on giving up on their goals and dreams. Either because they felt it was too hard or that they messed up too many times or missed a few days (or weeks) of their good habits and wanted to just try again next year or quit completely.

Start again. As long as it takes for you to get it right. Start again. Until it is complete. Until you’ve mastered the habit. Until you like the human you see in the mirror. Until you’ve done what you committed to do, start again.

We can do ourselves a MAJOR injustice by writing ourselves off and feeding into old identities. It can be hard to give yourself grace when you almost expected things to turn out the way they did. It aligns with how you usually see yourself and how things usually happened in the past. You may think, “It always fails.” “I can never get it right.” Or “I wonder how long I can keep this “act” up?”

No. This time IS going to be different. You won’t fail and you will get it right. Things won’t be perfect and it may feel like things are falling apart at times. You may not have all the tools you need, or all the belief in yourself YET, but….as long as you don’t let go of the belief that you can change and the belief that you will see your dreams come to life, you can dare to start again until you complete what needs to be done. It’s okay to make mistakes, just learn from it and plan how to overcome it next time! You will look back and see that this uncomfortable process created a whole new being and is accomplishing what God set out to do through you.

Don’t quit. Don’t give up. Start over as many times as you need to, but make sure that you complete what you set out to do.

Prayer

God thank You for Your grace and mercy. Thank You for pouring into me and allow me to be fertile ground. Forgive me for the times I speak negatively about myself. Help me to see myself the way You see me. Surround me with people who encourage me to push past my fears and doubts. Strengthen me to go out and do what You called me to do. Complete Your will in my life. In Jesus name, Amen.
