Don't Miss This

So many times I talk about not missing your past and moving forward with the new life God is calling you towards -  which is great! But recently, I also feel the need to emphasize the importance of not missing what’s currently happening in our lives.

Are you living in an answered prayer?

Sometimes, we hope for something to happen, and when it finally comes, we may shift our focus on another area of our life that’s unfulfilled, instead of appreciating where we are. We may completely miss out on every good moment because we’re constantly focusing on what’s missing or what hasn’t arrived yet.

I received some heartbreaking news recently, and while I took time to grieve and be fully present in the moment (as hard and uncomfortable as it was) I also had the opportunity to realize how full my life is in other areas.

From conversations with family, hanging out with girlfriends, having good health, learning about who God is to me, and being presented with opportunities, my life is full.

I no longer want to live in lack but fully embrace the blessings and gifts I’m surrounded with.

Coming from the girl that struggled with maintaining friendships (and literally worried that I wouldn't have bridesmaids), to now having beautiful, life-giving relationships…I’m truly blessed and I won’t miss this moment.

Coming from the girl who felt purpose-less, I now discovered a love of writing and have the opportunity to uplift women with the message of Jesus. I’m blessed and I refuse to miss this moment.

Coming from the girl that once felt that she had done so much wrong that there was absolutely no way God would want to hear from her, to now discovering, daily, what God actually thinks of me and how I’m so loved. I’m beyond blessed and I will never let go of this moment.

Don’t get me wrong, there are many things I still petition God about and many areas of my life I wished looked a little different (like I would absolutely love to be laid up on someone’s beach right now, with the only worry being if they're gonna finish building my dream home in April or May this year) but I also remember clearly asking God for what I have now, and I don’t ever want to forget to say “thank You”.

What areas are you blessed in that you may be overlooking?

What's going on around you right now that you may be missing?

It may be time for us to be present in this very moment and shift our focus to how rich our lives truly are.

Luke 17:12-19 NIV

As [Jesus] was going into a village, ten men who had leprosy met him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”

When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.

One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.

Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
