Matthew 13:18-23

18 “Listen then to what the parable of the sower means: 19 When anyone hears the message about the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what was sown in their heart. This is the seed sown along the path. 20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away. 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth choke the word, making it unfruitful. 23 But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.”

After reading the scripture, I had to ask myself , "Am I good ground?" I know what God says about me and I know that He wants to do more in my life. But, if I'm honest, I sometimes struggle to hold onto God's word. I start to stare at how big my problems are and how inadequate I often feel. This scripture reminds me to spend more time focusing on what God said, instead of my circumstances. I hope that we all choose to internalize and believe the Truth - through faith, reflect on it constantly, and allow it to produce a beautiful harvest in our lives.

Prayer

Jesus, thank You for Your kindness. Thank You for knowing everything about me and loving me fully anyway. Please continue to work on my heart. Create in me the character and faith needed to sustain what You want to bless me with. Allow me to be good soil. Give me the desire and wisdom to understand Your Word and produce a harvest for the advancement of Your Kingdom. Teach me how to take my eyes off of the worries of this life and focus on You and Your Truth. Thank You for Your goodness. In Jesus name, Amen.
