The Next Chapter

Worried about where to go? And what’s next? I get it. I’m definitely there.

As one chapter closes, whether peacefully or abruptly, it can be painfully exciting to wonder what’s coming next in your story. Will it be a wild ride? Will I make better decisions? Will it finally happen in this one?

All questions we don’t have the answers to.

As someone who loves control, each day, I’m learning more and more what it means to give my worrying, plans, and preference to God....to be truly humble and admit “I don’t know”, for once.

It’s easy to “trust” God when you know what comes next, but what happens when you don't?  When you trust that all things work together for your good, but you're also curious to know if this is a season you should brace for impact or find rest? Is it time to let love in or to guard your heart? To sow or reap? Maybe to hope...but not too much?

A friend once told me, “Sometimes trusting God looks like giving Him one finger, then another, then another, until, eventually, your whole hand is in His.”

I didn’t fully understand that then, but I see it now. It’s taking steps daily to release control and accept God as the most Wonderful Author of your story. Trusting that it’s all being written by Someone who knew everything about you (your flaws, mistakes, and all the good things too) and knew you’d be perfect for this exact  moment. It’s uncomfortable now, but you’re not outside of His plan. Keep moving forward and trusting, one step at a time.

Soooo….for the girl that doesn’t have it all the way together yet. Who doesn’t know which path to take. Who wants to run, but isn’t sure in which direction…. Let this be a season of true faith. Surrender your life’s desires for His. Trusting that a life with Him is better than anything you could have imagined on your own. Knowing that in your search for Him, you’ll somehow find your way to exactly where you’re supposed to be.

Matthew 6:25-33 (NLT)

“That is why I tell you not to worry about everyday life—whether you have enough food and drink, or enough clothes to wear. Isn’t life more than food, and your body more than clothing? Look at the birds. They don’t plant or harvest or store food in barns, for your heavenly Father feeds them. And aren’t you far more valuable to him than they are? Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? “And why worry about your clothing? Look at the lilies of the field and how they grow. They don’t work or make their clothing, yet Solomon in all his glory was not dressed as beautifully as they are. And if God cares so wonderfully for wildflowers that are here today and thrown into the fire tomorrow, he will certainly care for you. Why do you have so little faith? “So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.“‬‬

Prayer
Holy Spirit, thank You for Your nearness. Thank You for guiding me in this journey of life. Help me to release fear and have a fresh hope for what’s next, and contentment and gratefulness for the now. For the woman that reads this, I ask that she opens up to You and tells You the truth about where she is and how she really feels. I ask that You meet her there and give her confidence that You’re present and will guide her to wherever she’s going next. Help us to boldly believe that You’re the God that goes before us, and never slumbers, and isn’t caught off guard by anything. You’re good. Help us all to trust You more. In Jesus name, Amen.
